The next three weeks was the hardest of my life. Trying to cope with the emotional pain was tough. It didn’t seem this hard when he first left. But after missing him, then seeing him again at the graduation and spending precious time making love with him, I felt even more connected and that made our separation that much more difficult. My poor nana. I felt so bad for dumping all my problems on her, but she was all I had. Gabby was far away getting acclimated to her new life that I didn’t want to bother her, so I had no one else to talk to but nana.

I prayed that school would help take my mind off of my broken heart and give my nana a reprieve from me crying on her shoulders or having to watch me wallow in my sorrows. She would always say she didn’t mind lending me a shoulder, but I knew it had to be mighty tiring hearing the same old sad song day after day. I would apologize and tell her how much I hated not being able to move on and let go. She’d tell me there was no time limit on a broken heart and that it will heal itself in due time. That’s why I loved her so much. She was full of wisdom, my rock, who never criticized me. On the contrary, she was always loving, supportive and understanding
